No1 Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Clinic Auckland
For New Patients
First time for acupuncture?
If you are considering acupuncture, but have never had it before, we welcome the opportunity to introduce you to the benefits of what we do.
If you are feeling a little nervous about having acupuncture you can be assured that with us you will have a very positive experience. We see many people who have never had acupuncture before, and are experienced in guiding you through your initial acupuncture experience.
Had acupuncture before?
We also see many patients who have had acupuncture before. Our experienced patients tell us they prefer our gentle and direct approach. If you would like to have a comfortable experience performed by friendly and caring doctors of Chinese medicine, then we would be more than happy to see you.
Appointments
To make an appointment please call09 631 0102. You can also send us an email using the contact form and we will reply as soon as possible.
We are open Tuesday to Saturday. Our first appointment time is 9am, and our last appointment time is 5:40pm.
Arrival time & treatment duration
For your first appointment we ask you to arrive 5 minutes early to fill out a medical history form.
We advise allowing an hour for your initial visit.
For your subsequent visits we recommend you allow 45 minutes to one hour.
Your initial visit
Your first visit to us starts with a consultation. We take the time to have a thorough and relevant discussion with you about your health concern, medical history and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your problem.
Fertility patients
If you are visiting us for assistance with fertility, your consultation will be comprehensive – your first visit will be dedicated to it. We discuss your Chinese medicine diagnosis, and what your treatment plan involves.
A personalised fertility action plan will be created for you, which contains detailed guidance on specific action you can take to improve your fertility.
Pain patient
If you are visiting us for help with pain, your consultation may also include some movement tests, to check your range of movement and identify the affected muscles or other soft tissue. We then conduct a physical examination of the painful area to find out more about your problem.
If you have had recent x-rays, ultrasounds or other scans for your pain, please bring your report with you, if possible.
After the consult and physical exam, we perform your first treatment. This usually involves some remedial massage to the affected area, and then we perform your acupuncture. If any other traditional Chinese medicine therapies, such as cupping, or moxibustion are recommended for you, these are performed in conjunction with your acupuncture at no extra cost.
At the conclusion of your session, a treatment plan can be created for you, which outlines the approximate number and frequency of visits that would be most beneficial for you.
General health patients/ all other patients
We discuss your health problem in detail, and also ask questions about your general health, such as sleep quality and stress level.
The consultation will then be followed by an acupuncture treatment, and if you would like herbal therapy (if herbal medicine is appropriate for your health condition, this will be discussed with you during your consultation), your herbal medicine will be prepared next few day and ready for you at the conclusion of your visit.
For many health conditions acupuncture and herbal medicine, when used in combination, form the most effective treatment strategy.
How do I prepare for treatment?
To get the most out of your treatment, we prefer that you arrive at your appointment neither hungry or thirsty. This is because acupuncture works with the body’s energy, so you need a good supply for us to work with – some petrol in the tank, so to speak.
Fertility Patients
As we will be discussing your cycle, please bring any information you may have about it – whether that’s a cycle tracking app, or basal body temperature charts that you may have completed.
If you have had any fertility tests, such as ultrasounds or blood tests, please bring the reports with you, as with any surgical reports or related information.
Pain Patients
If you have had recent x-rays, ultrasounds or other scans for your pain, please bring your reports with you, if possible.
What if I need to cancel?
We understand that at times it may be difficult to keep your appointment. To be fair to us and our other patients, all we ask is that you provide us with at least 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend. This way we can accommodate other patients who also require treatment.
For short-notice (less than 24 hours) cancellations or missed appointments you may be charged the full appointment fee
